高三教材Unit 6 Lesson22中有一个句子Recently ,China has made special
laws to deal with waste and control pollution. She has also been very
active in protecting environment.不少同学问底下划线的she是不是编者疏忽了，应改为it?
编者完全正确，只是提问题的同学只知其一不知其二罢了。
人称代词she（主格）、her（宾格）和物主代词her除了代替阴性名词外，有时候还可以用来表示；
1. 像国家、城市、地球、月球、海洋等这样的无生命的东西，以表示亲切和爱抚。如：
When they came to China again after 20 years, they found she was
making big strides along the road to industrialization.
20年后他们再次来到中国时，发现她正沿着工业化道路大踏步前进。
Our country needs strong leaders: may she always have them!
我们的国家需要强有力的领导人物：但愿祖国永远有这样的人。
As soon as we arrived in Venice, we noticed she was a city of water.
我们一到威尼斯，就注意到她是一座水城。
The moon is less bright than she was an hour ago.
月亮不如一小时以前亮了。
Oh, the earth—my mother! How I love her!
啊，地球——我的母亲！我多么爱她！
2. 像船只、飞机、汽车、火车、汽球等这样的人造物体，以表示亲切和爱抚。这些名词的主要特征是运动。如：
The ship ran into an iceberg and sank 10 days after she set sail.
那艘船启航后10天，撞到冰山上沉没了。
The airplane moved slowly forward…she took off…and she rose clean as a
swallow.飞机慢慢向前移动……她起飞了……她完全像一只燕子起飞了。
A：How is your old car?
B: Oh, she’s running like a dream these days.
A：你的旧汽车怎么样了？
B：哦，这些天它跑得真好。
3. 像自然、命运、科学、真理、自由、和平、怜悯等这样的抽象概念。如：
We cannot wait for favours from nature; we must take from her.
我们不能等待大自然的恩赐，我们必须向她索取。
The greatest friend of truth is time, her greatest enemy is prejudice,
and her constant company is humility.
真理最好的朋友是时间，她最大的敌人是偏见，她永恒的伴侣是谦逊。
Science is very unkind mistress. She poorly rewards those who give
themselves to her service. 科学是个很不仁慈的女主人。她吝啬地报答那些为科学而献身的人。
4. 像雌性动物或当作女性的人。如：
The hen cackles when she has laid an egg. 母鸡下蛋就咯咯地叫。
It’s the farmer’s best cow; she gives a lot of milk .
那是这个农场主最好的母牛；因为她可以产很多奶。
Is the new baby a he or a she? 这个刚生下来的婴孩是男还是女？ |
